When I was a child, I dreamed of traveling the world. To do one of those trips that could turn upside world my heart and my mind. Discovering the beauty of places never seen before, was one of my recurring thoughts. I travelled with the imagination watching on TV documentaries of nature and travel, dream places that took shape in my mind, and who increasingly enriched my imaginary baggage...
Last year, my wife Rossella and I got married, crowning our dream of love, and in August 2016 we took the ship, destination "Baltic countries". We were determined to explore that side of the world yet unknown to our radars. We would never think of finding so magical places, breathtaking scenery and very particular buildings crossed by medieval streets.
As soon as we arrived in Stockholm, we found a wonderful and colorful city founded on 14 islands, that immediately immersed us into a new atmosphere, where the design, the order and the kindness of those who live there, are very impressed.
Moving from Sweden to Finland, we visited Helsinki, one of the most beautiful cities in northern Europe. Walking through the streets of the city we are immersed in the beautiful park of "Sibelius", a famous sculpture by Finnish artist Eila Hiltunen titled Passio Musicae. Under the sculpture, it seemed to hear the sound of the wind through the innumerable steel rods. A wonderful experience!
Helsinki also impressed us for his particular churches, especially the "Church in the rock", Awesome not only for its size, but for its vibrant colors and the simplicity of the altar and seating.
During our wonderful voyage on the ship, the incredible scenery of the Fjords flowed in our eyes. This spectacle of nature, a great harmony of all the natural elements, left us breathless! The peace of the senses. St. Petersburg was the most intense city to visit for the great history, art and culture that characterize it. We crossed the city on a boat along its canals, to admire the peculiarity and beauty of its facades. We admired immense palaces, such as the Hermitage Museum and the Peterhof complex, very rich in art, gardens, gorgeous salt, fountains, water games, which really left us speechless!
One of the most recognizable symbols of the city of St. Petersburg is the Church of the Spilled Blood, wonderful, which stands out for its very high bell tower and its colorful colors. The church is famous especially for the beautiful and unique collection of mosaics that completely cover the interior walls.
Exploring the Baltic countries was an unforgettable memory that we will cherish forever. We're fortunate to be able to travel all these countries in one go and we hope we're able to inspire you the same way we felt inspired by those countries.
