La dolce vita of Tuscany, Italy

Italy has always been a country that inspired me. I have enjoyed the beautiful nature, the good food and the friendly people several times.

After the year 2018 had started very badly for me privately, I needed a break. A time-out for me and my family to recharge our batteries. What would be better than a trip to Tuscany?

Since I am not a fan of all inclusive hotel bunkers, my family and I rented a beautiful villa in the mountains near Pescia. Our journey started in July 2018. I will never forget the first view from our terrace over the hills of Pescia. One stands there, sees this beautiful view and forgets everything else around one.

Of course I also visited some of the famous sights. This year it was Pisa and the famous Leaning Tower. The view from the top of the tower is beautiful and gives you a feeling of freedom.

We also visited some beautiful towns and villages. Some of them are better known than others. An absolute must see is the city of Lecce. The city offers a beautiful architecture and a very interesting history. Walking over the rampart at the former city wall you have a wonderful view over the city and its beautiful alleys.

But it is not these places that touch me the most. It is the hidden, little-known places that touch me and make up a journey for me. To experience and feel "La dolce vita". In the small alleys of Montecarlo I found exactly this feeling.

An insider tip is definitely the citrus garden "Hesperidarium - il giardino degli agrumi" in Pescia. My family and I were the only visitors to the garden and had so much time to learn all about the history of the citrus fruit in Italy from the owners.

Tuscany offers so much more than the sights like Pisa, Florence, Milan etc.. The beautiful nature is the one that inspires me the most every time. The amazing beaches where you can let your gaze wander in the distance. I experienced the most touching moment of my journey in exactly such a place. I last visited Marina di Massa more than 20 years ago. Since then a lot has changed. The city is hardly recognizable anymore and also my life was completely different at that time. And yet I stood on the pier and felt the feeling of intimacy deep inside me. Exactly this feeling is the soul of travelling for me.
