The extraordinary Lake Bled
My husband Daniel and I got married in August 2015 and we both wanted our first honeymoon in a non-conventional and non-touristy place. As a traveler couple, we both have different tasks when it comes to planning our holidays. I'm the one in charge of research things to do and where to go. My husband, on the other hand, is the one looking for the accommodations, tickets and transportation. We're a perfect team work.
The destination chosen for our honeymoon was Croatia and Slovenia. My husband came up with the idea of renting a car to cross the border from Croatia to Slovenia. It took us 45 minutes to drive from the capital Ljubljana to Lake Bled. The journey is stunning even though was drizzling that day. Lake Bled is a dainty little town filled with hotels and restaurants. The town grew around this massive and stunning lake. At the center of the lake on an islet rises up the magnificent Assumption church, just there in the middle of nowhere.
You can call it a cliche, but that view made me tear up. it was jaw-dropping. There was an inexplicable aura involving Lake Bled. I had seem many pictures of Lake Bled before, but the live experience was truly mystical and surreal. The whole scenery was mesmerizing! The lake, the church, the outdoor activities and the castle were all there composing this perfect moment. The most impeccable view I’ve ever witness. That was definitely the highlight of our road trip to Slovenia and I hope the photos get to show a little of what I felt that day.
Having Lake Bled as part of my honeymoon itinerary was the perfect scenario to celebrate our special moment. I genuinely felt touched by its beauty. I definitely recommend Lake Bled, Slovenia to couples, solo travelers and even families. Oh, and please, if you ever pass by Lake Bled check out the local cake KREMSNITA in Sava hotel. The cake is the most delicious cake I've ever had and have its own Facebook page.
